Happy Tuesday! I hope you enjoyed a great holiday weekend with family and friends. Over the past week we’ve had really nice weather here in Northwest Ohio, but it’s definitely feeling like fall! For me, the cool weather triggers the urge to declutter and update my space for the new season. If you’ve been following Lovely Pursuits for awhile, you know that I love red and it’s always played a key role in my home’s color palette. This fall, however, I’m inspired to change up the color scheme in the main living areas and let this rich and timeless navy blue take center stage. You’ll recall that I recently put the finishing touches on my home office, and used turquoise and navy throughout that space. I’m loving it so much that I think it will be nice to carry shades of blue throughout the rest of the main floor as well.
This beautiful kilim pillow I recently saw at Pottery Barn is serving as the inspiration piece. Notice I couldn’t completely get away from including a touch of red 😉
I’m currently still in the planning stages but have already come across some great finds at a bargain (always a good thing in my book, especially for trendy pieces and accessories!) For example, I love the idea of pairing the kilim pattern with a plush washed velvet pillow in navy, which can also be found at Pottery Barn.
However, I want three of them, and since they are $30 a piece for the covers (not including the inserts, which is an additional $18 each), I decided to shop around and see if I could find a less expensive alternative. Luck was on my side this weekend, because I found these similar ones from H & M Home on sale for only $6.99! Of course they don’t have the same piping detail as the Pottery Barn pillow, but I’m willing to take a chance for the price and hoping the quality will be decent. We’ll just have to see when they arrive later this week…
I’ve also found some great bargains at Wayfair, Ballard Designs, and Target, and should be able to pull together this family room refresh pretty easily without too much investment in time and money. I’ll keep you posted!
